Introduction to the Metronome

The metronome training is an introduction to timing for all levels. These metronome training challenges are designed to start working on basic timing, footwork and listening skills. We will use the metronome as a foundation to all the various trainings we do.

These videos are a basic guideline on how the metronome can be incorporated into a daily practice. Using the metronome consistently will help greatly with timing and exactness of your steps. Spend time with each segment until you feel comfortable.

Clap Challenges

This training will help timing, footwork and help patience. When dancing performing multiple tasks become easier when you have a strong timing foundation. You will clap with a metronome while either marching in place or traveling. These are small examples that you can take and practice on a daily basis.

Introduction to the Scales of soUlºsa

The Scales of soUlºsa is one of the foundation tools that Energetic Soul uses as an entrance to the potential timing for Latin dances. If dance is a conversation the Scales are five different languages of the rhythm. Learn all five Scales and practice with a metronome to lock in your time.

Introduction to the Octagon

The Octagon Training is designed to train 8 different directions from a stationary position. This training is beneficial for solo dancing and partner dancing. Work on your ability to flow in any direction with ease.

Infinity Combination

Developed solely for the purpose of encouraging people to get up and move to music while we were shut in for Covid -19 outbreaks. The idea to broadcast live every week for 30 minutes was because we were not able to have in person classes.  We still wanted to offer our students and anyone that wanted to join a chance to keep moving. The majority of the steps are from our Energetic Salsa program. Energetic Salsa represents our footwork training. Every week we added a new segment to our combination in order to build the combination in full form. There are 15 known segments before we stopped broadcasting our free classes. We continue to add segments still to today.
